Welcome 2012

Hey out there again! My 2012 resolution is to get back to crafting! I am hoping I can do it! I love to craft but, and there is always a but....I have three kids at the ages they need to be places and do things! There are moments when I long for the days when I was in charge of what we did and when we did it. With ballet lessons, drum lessons, basketball practices and games and the hope that we might get to ski or snowboard, cramps my craft style!

So I found out that I really enjoy the My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up!, who knew! Swore I was never going to go digital. Just goes to show you, never say never.....

Where have I been?

Well, I have been down with a sinus infections since last Friday. We had a sad family event to attend over the weekend, so I powered through. My husband's beloved Uncle died suddenly and we attended his wake and funeral service. It was a beautiful tribute to a man who was everyone's friend.

I started to feel better yesterday and have been very busy with my fabric bucket. First I had to iron all the fabric I have been storing since February, then cut all the fabric into strips to fit into the Big Shot, as shown above.

Then I had to cut the batting that goes in the center of the quilted squares, I made the square sandwich, two pieces of fabric cut with the big shot clear scallop square die, with a 3in square in the center.

I quilted the square diagonally both ways.

Here is an assembled bag. It still has ways to go and I will show you the completed project, but just wanted to let you know what I have been busy doing.

These are flowers made with the large flower die for the big shot, that match some of the rag bags I have been making.

These are flowers made with the circle big shot die. The are made with a syntheic fabric so they can be melted and shaped. I adhered them to a headband.

More to come, I just wanted to show you the progress I have made! My kitchen is crazy with all the stuff spread out!

Quick Dasher

This quick Dasher was cased from yet somewhere on the web, I get all my inspiration from so many fellow stampers.

Early Espresso Cardstock

Real Red 5/8 Satin Ribbon
Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder
Scallop Trim Border Punch

The base of the card is whisper white cardstock, I used a piece of Early Espresso Cardstock that was 4.25 x 5.5. I used the embossing folder on it then I cut it in half. I then used the Scallop Trim Punch for the border. The ribbon is tied around the Early Espresso Cardstock. It is really a simple card but does look very elegant.

Who, Who, Who is super cute!

This cute card is made with Designer Paper from Fall 2009, so the More Mustard is a current color, the real rust and the sage shadow are retired. I used Early Espresson for the brown, because I just love how rich it looks. Punch Number 3 in the 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! Idea Book and Catalog. The two step owl. It was much easier than I thought it would be to put together. I used Square Lattice Embossing Folder from the big shot to texture the first layer. Thankful thoughts of you comes from Grateful Greetings.

I think that's all! I cased this from somewhere, where is always a mystery to me. I surf the web with a stream of crazy. Here are some quick and dirty directions, where ever I found the pic there were no details so I winged it!

I cut 2 Large Scallop Circle with Pumpkin Pie, then I put them through the big shot with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder. (one at a time in the embossing folder) I used my Bone Folder to score the bottom to fold over the one edge. I scored it 3/4 if inch from the edge.

To create the box in the center: I am going from my scribble notes on my grid paper, if this doesn't work please let me know. You need to cut a piece of pumpkin pie cardstock to 4.25 by 9.50. On the 9.50 edge score at 3, 4.5, 7.5, 9 on the 4.25 edge score at 1.5. This is a basic box, fold your folds cut your bottom up to the score line, etc.

The handle is old olive card stock, 1 in by 8.5. I secured the handle to the bottom of the box, folded in over and secured it where in landed and it worked great. With sticky strip of course.

I sponged the leaves and ran a few through the embossing folder, I didn't have any DSP that was current and matched, that would look cute too and was on the original I cased this from.

More Halloween Treats! These were for Dylan's Class. They are made with the milk carton die for the Big Shot. I used all kinds of punches to make the embellishments, as well as Designer Series Paper and ribbon. I put snack packs of m&m's inside for the candy goodie!

School Treats

This is the quick treat I made for my daughter's first grade class. It uses the sweet center stamp set from Stampin' Up! and all retired colors. I was using up my only orange, not green galore the lighter bright green, the name totally escapes me, if I remember it or look it up I will update this post and lavender lace cardstock. I inked the stamp up with the stampin spot to really get the good bold inked up look. I used the new super large circle punch and scallop circle. I was pleased with this quick treat goody. It was a half a sheet of cardstock scored in the middle. I mono-adhesived these cute Hershey kiss treats I found at Target to the inside.

Halloween is coming!

Three months! I can't believe I haven't posted in three months. Three kids in three different directions will do that to you all summer. Everyone is back at school and I am getting used to having a minute to craft!

I made these Halloween cards to sell at Artique. My friend Dania and I have a booth there to sell our creations. I made some milk carton candy treats too. I am going to move on to make some Thanksgiving goodies next.

This card uses designer paper as the backgroud, the new punch for the greeting. From the Crypt stamp set is the large image and the greeting comes from a past hostess set. I used shimmer paint on the skull to make it stand out and have the white tone.

Matching Cards!

Here is the first card that matches the fancy purse. I used Manhattan Flower Stamp Set and Bella Bleu paper which I love, love, love! I used watercolor crayons to color the flowers and a blender pen to spread the color around. I used a so saffron and barely banana marker to color the stamen in the center, the crayons just were not dark enough for me. I used white satin ribbon to use as an accent. The words are embossed using white embossing powder. The oval was cut using my Big Shot from Sizzox. I punched the wholes in the scallops to add a little more something. I cased this whole card from a pattern I purchased and added by own spin.

This second card was made with pretty much the same supplies as the first one. I did make a slit using a craft knife to add the ribbon.

Two more cards to post for this set! I love, love, love this project!

Purse Perfect

This awesome purse is made with Bella Bleu Designer Series Paper. I love, love, love this paper. This was a bit an effort, but I love the way it came out. It is made to hold cards. I will be posting the cards over the next few days. I used Manhattan Flowers to create the flower on the front of the purse and for the upcoming cards. I used watercolor crayons to color the flower.

I worked Saturday night on a few cards using my new Awash with Flowers set. This is my first attempt using Stampin' Up's version of acrylics stamps. I had a hard time with them to tell you the truth. I think I am a wood block girl. I always knew I was but after struggling with this set I know for sure. I like knowing exactly where I am stamping, however when I wanted to add something I had to keep putting stamps back on blocks and I just seemed to be making a mess. What do you guys think? Acrylics or Wood?

I used the designer paper from the last mini, with Orchid Opulance, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron and Certainly Celery. I haven't used Orchid Opulance much and really enjoyed the color. The greeting set was one from this years Sellabration mini.

I used a texture and my big shot for the So Saffron paper.

I used the Clear Circle Sizzox Die and Large Scallop for this card. I had to use a craft knife to trim the edge of the circle after I mounted it on the card, I enjoy the effect.

Christmas in May?

Check out these ornaments we made yesterday. My Mom is working on making items each month for her church fair in the fall. They have a Christmas tree they decorate with ornaments for sale and she wanted the 3D ornament from the Big Shot. It is not the easiest one to make. Once you get the hang out it, it's not bad, it's just trying to figure it out again. It's not like riding a bike, I had to google the directions and really focus during the first assembly. They are so worth it. I also showed her how to make the ball ornament from the six inch strips of decorative paper too.

This is the 3D sizzox ornament. It takes 25 pieces to make this size. You have to use sticky strip or double sided tape, mono is not strong enough to hold this baby together long.

Two posts in two days, I am almost officially on a roll. This Scrapbook page was done on my weekend trip with the Scrapbook Divas. The picture of Madeleine was taken on her first day of kindergarten last September. The paper and the layout cam from Close to my Heart. I love the Close to my Heart layout books, Cherish, Imagine and Reflection they really help me showcase my pictures with a great layout.

This was Jack's first day of sixth grade. I was not able to actually stand in the driveway and take the picture so I had to make do with lurking on the porch. The exciting part of this layout were the letter stickers that have been in my scrap gear for a while and they make the apples on the paper look like backgrounds. I really love that look.

I am so happy to say I am stamping again! I have done some scrapping in the past few months but haven't been stamping cards! Well, here are my Mother's Day Cards! I used the Flower Fancy set, I really love, love, love the way these came out. I used Stampin' up!'s mambo melon and razzleberry paper and inks and mambo melon polka dot ribbon. It took me a few times to figure out how to tie the bow so the polka dots showed on both parts. (The polka dots are only on one side).

Our new Doorstep!
We moved our doorstep! We are finally settled into our new home! This has been six rough months and this summer was CRAZY. We spent the first two weeks after school ended enjoying the sun, surf and sand in South Carolina.

Here are the kids on the beach Fourth of July waiting for the fireworks to start.

After we got back from our vacation it was game on! I cleaned, painted, packed and moved, all with the help of my good friends. My good friends have strong backs and good spirits. After weeks of moving, cleaning, etc we were mostly settled into our new place.

The first week in August we lost my grandfather Paul E. Hicks Jr. I was honored to deliever his eulogy at his funeral mass. It was a long week for all of us, my sister and her family were here from Texas. The kids went to the service and Jackson came with Mike and I to the wake as well. I can't believe how grown up my Jack is getting. He said goodbye to his great-grandpa with compassion and grace. Jackson was the oldest great-grandchild and I was the oldest grandchild. Pop has joined the love of his life who he has missed everyday since she left this world so there is comfort in that they are together. He would have been 90 years old October of this year.

Since we were all in town we took the time to take a few pictures of the family. This is my family and my sister's family in my parents front yard!

This is all of us including my parents.

The rest of the summer has been playing catch up and getting ready for school to start. I am working on my change of address cards and getting my stamp studio in order to start my creating again. I am so hoping to be able to get my blog full of cool stuff you want to make and create!

Today, Mike and I have been married 13 years! Yeah for us!

If you haven't heard the news, my husband and I bought a new house. That means for the past few months we have been clearing out our current house. Two Dumpsters and a Storage Room full of stuff has left the premises. We have repainted and repaired and shined up our house so that we can put it on the market. That means that my Stamp Studio has gotten packed up and stored away. It was in what should be the Formal Living Room and really didn't help in presenting the house for sale! I am trying really hard to squeeze projects, it's just easy!

Scrap Weekend

This was a picture from our June Disney Visit, I can't believe it has been almost a year since we were in Disney.

I spent last weekend with my friend Deb at an Overnight Scrapbook retreat. I managed to do about 25 pages. Many of them still need the journalling but for the most part are finished. I miss my scrap room which has been put into storage on a temporary basis why we sell our house.

Valentine Treats

Peppermint Patty Stack for Jackson's 5th grade class. It uses the scallop punch in riding hood red, pirouette pink striped ribbon, with a really simple tag using the two new heart punches.

Really simple tag!

Dylan's treat is the conversation heart boxes covered using retired Stampin' Up! Designer Paper, also using the new three heart punch. I added the belly band so he could include his pokemon valentines too!

The hearts are punched out of the Turquoise paper, then the DSP is behind it. Great effect no glueing of little hearts!

Pinewood Derby 2009

I can't believe I got this great picture. Taking a picture of these cars in motion is like trying take a picture of fireworks, not an easy thing! That is Dylan's car about to cross the finish line first!

The winner is.......Dylan! He won his age group and he won the whole thing!

The guitar car in the red lane is Jack's car and the blue car in the blue lane is Dylan's car. Dylan's theme was Little Big Planet, a game he LOVES on the PS3, Jackson's car had a theme of Guitar Hero. This was in the final round of racing. Both boys made the finals, Jack took 4th overall and Dylan took first!

The Roussin Racing Family wins another year! The pressure continues to defend the title! A big thanks to Grandpa, without him none of this could be possible. He is head of the Roussin Race Team guiding us to victory!

This is a repeat of a previous post, I added riding hood red taffeta ribbon to it. It needed a little something. This card uses the Valentine Love You Much Bundle DSP, three heart punch and Stamp Set.

Just Buzzin' By! This is a card I modified from the Stampin' Success Magazine, it is a little out of the box for me. It is super cute and I am really happy with it. It is a little touch of Spring in Upstate NY where it's cold and my driveway is covered with snow.

This is a great card and much easier to make then it looks!

This is a birthday gift for a friend. It it a box that holds cards and a perpetual birthday calendar. It used the retiring Banbury Designer Series Paper (Sniff) I love this paper, it's plaid and it's pink, it is so me! A four pack of love. I made this great project from a pattern I found on the web. I designed the style using the Love you Much Bundle. I love every part of that silly bundle. The punch is just too much fun!

The clever person who designed the pattern even designed the bottom of the milk cartons so that you can get into them and still maintain their cuteness. How stinkin' clever is that. The tab punch makes it easy!

Big Shot Love Baby!

This is a great box made from the envelope die for the Big Shot. I embellished with the new Love you Much stamp set, riding hood red ribbon and punches galore. I used sticky strip to assemble the box, these days I wouldn't use anything else!

I used the pillow box die to create this little box. I used report covers that I purchased at an office store and embellished away. I filled the box with gum drops to show off how cute it is!

She's Back!

I have to say I dropped off the radar sometime around Thanksgiving and am now just back in the land of the stamping! The first two weeks of December, many of you know I was in a Holiday Coma, in complete denial that December was here and Christmas and New Year's were on the horizon, the rest of the month I was totally hijacked by the holidays, just trying to pull off the basics that I refused to acknowledge the first part of the month. For goodness sake I still have Holiday Cards to mail out! I managed some but I have more that need to go out! The good news is after battling strep throat and a chest congestion this last week I am busy, busy, busy in the stamp studio. You will just love many of the items I have created!

I think these frames came out really fabulous. I love the paper on this one. I originally made these for the ACC event.

I made a mistake on this one and needed to use ribbon to hide the edge, I think it really adds something to the entire frame. It was a happy accident!

Tonight I have a workshop for someone who really wants a Big Shot, so the 3-D item I planned is one based on the Big Shot, this cute little owl treat! Whooooo wouldn't think that's cute!

This is a card we are doing with the Handmade Holiday, funny story, I ordered the kit and made a mistake and put in the wrong code and received the kit in Spanish! If I had any friend who spoke Spanish as their language at home this holiday season I would be all set. The good news is that many of the images don't have any words on them and I have the stamp set that matches in English, so tt will work, but sometimes I need to stop and watch what I am doing!

We are doing this card upon request of the hostess so that her non-crafting guests might be able to purchase a simple project! Smart Hostess!

Finally this is a Crazy for Cupcakes Card we are doing to show off our scallop edge punch, the Crazy for Cupcakes Stamp Set and our awesome DSP!

Jack and his buddies, Dylan and Nick posing at the Basketball Hall of Fame. After coming home at 2AM from NYC and Jersey Boys, I got up early the next morning so that Mike and I could take Jack and his friends to check out the New Hoop Hall in MA.

It was actually really great for a Hall of Fame. It has a huge Center Court where the kids can shoot hoops and all these interactive exhibits that the kids just loved! Plus we finished off the visit with ice cream at Coldstone Creamery!

October 17, we headed into the city to spend the day shopping and the night with the Jersey Boys. What a FABULOUS show. It blew me away. I love musical theatre, this show exceeded my expectations!

Here we are outside the theatre Tammy, Deb, Suzi and me (and my huge zit).

Deb and I at Patsy's, the restaurant we choose out of Tammy's guide book. It was a great Italian place. I am trying to hide my zit with my hand, pretty smooth don't ya think. The Waiter must have felt I was the saddest of the bunch because he have me a goodie bag on the way out that had tomato sauce from the restaurant. How many places give you a party favor on the way out! Only in NYC!

Workshop Projects

One of my good customers hosted a Take Three Workshop for me last week. These are the three projects that we were able to make and take. One of the projects was requested to be a holiday card so we created this one with using a Stamp Set from the Holiday Mini.

Another version of Frank, using punches and a paper bag.

The last project is always a choice between a 6x6 scrapbook page or a 3x6 card. This is the card and below is the scrapbook page. I love this DSP, it is from the Holiday Mini and has a fall flair.

If you can't tell I love this Banbury Designer Series Paper (DSP). I used my Big Shot for the Scallop Circles, the cocktails really fit in the largest circle punch we have so I had to find a bigger accent to put them on. I love how they turned out. I used the absolutely fabulous greeting set to finish these cool cards off!

Well Hey! I can't believe the days just go by. It' s been more than two weeks since I have had a chance to post. I have been busy working on my wonderful papercrafts to show you, along with entertaining friends from out of town, getting my kids off to school, etc, etc. Not to mention also, my camera battery needed to be replaced it wasn't charging right, then life just went on. I have some time tonight so I am going to share what I have been up to!

How cute is this owl. Just so cute. He is made with the Big Shot and the Top Note Die and one of the Scallop Dies that cuts both his breast plate and his eyes. The rest of him our Stampin' Up! Punches. He does look a little like Ferbie but I am really fond of him. Not my orginal idea I just executed the best I could from the picture, I had checked out somewhere out there on the information superhighway.

This week at our house we have celebrated a few Birthdays. We had lunch today for Donna! Tammy brought this awesome lemon cake that was sooooooo good. I pulled out an oldie but goodie recipe to serve the ladies. I made seafood stuffed shells. I haven't made them in a long time and really forgot how good they are. They are stuffed shells made with crabmeat & shrimp in a white sauce. So good! Suzi made an awesome salad to finish off our lunch.

Madeleine's first day of preschool for the 4 year olds. It was such a bittersweet day, on one hand I am excited for her but I see all these Moms with babies on their hips as they are dropping there kids off and I am just lost. I can't believe that part of my life is finished. I am really a little sad.

Movie star in NY headed to preschool! She just had to wear plaid today. I love plaid in September, I just love it! I can't not have her wear it on her first day! How fab does she look?

Swaps

I copied this swap from another blog, and so many bloggers are so very kind to link to the blog they copied from, but I don't know who. It's not my idea, it so someone else's I just executed it for a swap and love the colors and the technique. I swapped at the Sminks meeting this week.

I also made this swap with the Simple Birthday Thank You Cupcake, How cute is that! I used the Banbury DSP for the cupcake bottom and the cherry. I embossed the top to make it look more like frosting. I sponged on some Pink Pirouette to finish off the top. I love the Pink Pirouette matching ribbon, don't you?

September Stamp Club Projects

Here is one of the cards for September Stamp Club, you have your choice of this stepped up version or the version below which doesn't have the watercolored and cut out piece added. Both cards are very nice and very seasonal.

The next two cards use our new Vanilla Hodgepodge hardware. There are two versions of this card too. The first one is a basic card with a Big Shot Top note and hardware, the stepped up version has some extra pieces that add dimension.

The final project is using the Pocket Silhouette stamp set that is 15% off this month and the new Baja Breeze Blue, plus a fancy Baja Breeze Button.

I attached the little ornament at the bottom of each pennant. I punched using our large circle punch DSP for the center.

Walk the Walk

Okay, I am trying to walk the walk if I am going to talk the talk.

I have been coaching a friend on better eating habits for her and her family and now I am taking some of my own advice and NOW my friend is coaching me. She has been doing great eating meals at home, healthy, thoughtful meals that are have a balance nutritional value and are yummy. I tasted one of these meals last night and it was super Yum-O! Talipia, broccoli and rice. The fish was seasoned to perfection with what, I have no idea, but it was super good. The meal even started with an appetizer of homegrown tomatoes in Caprice salad with fresh mozzarella and homegrown basil. Really Yum-O!

Last week I started by trying to pack better lunches for the kids, and today I am really on board. I dug out that cookbook that was popular last year about hiding veggies in the foods, so the kids get the value but without the hassle. I picked a few recipes and then two other recipes from Rachel Ray and some ideas from Family Fun about better lunches for kids. I made my list and headed off the grocery store, three kids in tow. Eating healthy is NOT cheap!

I came home and made my purees for my Deceptively Delicious recipes, carrots, sweet potatoes and butternut squash. I did not realize I had picked all orange ones but at least I am on it right, they all have nutritional value and there is no way Madeleine would any on her own! I Roasted and pureed the sweet potatoes, steamed and pureed the carrots and roasted and pureed the butternut squash. They will become part of Sloppy Joes, PB&J muffins, tomato sauce and oatmeal to start with.

Here's the proof, two cups of pureed carrots and sweet potatoes in 1/2 cup servings.

This is my new drink, I am giving up soda (not completely mind you, but only one a day vs. a six pack) It is 2/3 seltzer which has no calories and sugar and 1/3 low sugar cranberry juice. Not the same kick as my Pepsi but and better choice! Have to walk the walk and sometimes the shoes hurt and this is going to hurt at about 3PM on Monday when I am going to want my Pepsi!

Big Ideas with the Big Shot!

I made this great banner for Dylan's second grade teacher for the first day of school with my big shot. I went in and hung it up for her. I made one for Jack's teacher but gave it to him to give to his teacher. I tried to be the cool Mom and not go into his class this morning. I used the summer picnic designer paper and tart and tangy stamp set!

Can't help myself, my kids have resigned to the fact that I do it! I think my second grader appreciated the extra high five I gave him at school and the Mom escort to his class. I left Jack at the door and held back from going up to his class to see him, as my husband said "so not cool".

A gift for a golfer

Here is a stationary folder I made for a friend who invited me to play golf with her last week as part of her member/guest. I am so not the greatest golfer, I had fun but did not contribute to the score.

This is the set all opened up. It includes 8 cards in 2 styles, envelopes, seals, the folder and a thank you card from me.

This is the folder, the DSP is Banbury from Stampin' Up! and the stamp set is one I bought from my sister a long time ago.

What can you do with the Decor Elements?

Check out my Spooky Jar. This Jar is from Walmart and I added the Decor Element item that will be available in the extended Decor Elements Catalog starting October 1st. I put the spider on in front of a live studio audience during a Stamp Club so that some of my customers could see how easy it is. It was easy but did make me nervous having to put it on LIVE!

This is the top of the jar that shows the web extended to the knob at the top.

Of course, I made a tag to add a little stacey flair!

Here is another item I made to show off how easy it is to apply the Decor Elements. I can't take my walls with me so I am using frames to show off applying the Decor Elements and creating beautiful home decor items. This items uses are new wide ribbon, designer paper and the small happiness decor element.

Inspired by Nature, daubers were used to add color to the image on the stamp. Kiwi Kiss, Summer Sun and Chocolate Chip inks were used.

Ice Cream, Ice Cream, need I say more. This great card uses the tab punch, word window punch and the scallop punch.

Rock Band has arrived

Dylan wanted Rock Band the video game for his 7th birthday and Dad came through and brought it home for him. Maddie is on the guitar, Jack on the Drums and Dylan on vocals. I can't wait for the new one to come out this Fall, I like the song selection on the second game much better, but these guys just LOVE this game.
